The B20-G20-FAO Dialogue on Sustainable Food Systems is a joint initiative co-organized by the B20 Italy, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Italian Presidency of the G20. It aims to raise awareness on food and nutrition-related issues and on the environmental, social and economic sustainability of food systems in view of the United Nations Food Systems Pre-Summit scheduled on 26-28 July 2021 in Rome. The event is also conceived as a contribution to the Meeting of the G20 Ministers of Foreign Affairs that will be held in Matera on June 29th, where they will assess – inter alia - outcomes and orientations on food security.
The B20-G20-FAO Dialogue will consist of a discussion of approximately 90 minutes and will be opened by the B20 Chair, Emma Marcegaglia, the Director General of the FAO, Qu Dongyu, and Ivano Vacondio, President of Federalimentare, the Federation representing the Italian food and beverages industry.
On behalf of the G20 Presidency, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Luigi Di Maio, will deliver a speech in the opening session.
